I'd like to try green tea. Which teas do you recommend?

Netto Sencha has a pale yellow-green liquor and is good with meals.
Gyokuro is less aromatic than sencha and has a sweeter taste with a crisp flourish.
Matcha is thick, astringent, invigorating, and delicious!

Our Green Teas

Netto Gyokuro. The highest quality gyokuro from Uji. This tea has a wonderful naturally sweet aroma and a crisp gyokuro taste.

Netto Sencha. A paler infusion than Fukamushi cha and has a clean, slightly astringent taste. It is delicious with all meals from meat and potatoes to seafood to vegetarian.

Fukamushi cha. 100% certified organic sencha. It brews to a consistency like matcha but sweeter. This tea has a delicious, grassy taste. Fukamushi cha is famous for its rich emerald color.

Matcha. High quality gyokuro that has been ground to a powder that is the consistency of talc. This tea is whipped to a bright green froth. For connoisseurs our Ajirogi matcha is of the highest quality.

Genmai cha. The combination of quality sencha, puffed brown rice (genmai) and a bit of matcha give this tea a delightful toasted barley taste and a rich green color. Genmai cha has a very low caffeine content.

Organic Powdered Sencha. Like matcha it is a powdered tea and you consume the leaves with the tea. It has a slightly sweeter taste than matcha. It is not ground as fine as matcha so no matcha bowl or whisk is required for preparation.

Teabags. Our teabags are user-friendly and contains fresh, high quality sencha and gyokuro.

Japanese Green Tea Online buys teas from several tea growers in Uji and Shizuoka. We sampled many teas before we selected the ones you will find in our catalogue.

Sencha, gyokuro, and matcha all vary greatly in quality. Even within first-harvest teas there are different grades of tea.

Japanese Green Tea Online only markets the highest quality first-harvest teas. From the beginning quality has been our top priority.

This commitment extends to all of our teas. Even genmai cha, a low caffeine tea containing sencha and puffed brown rice, is made from the choicest ingredients. We added a pinch of matcha to give this delightful tea a bright green color and a crisp taste.

Our lone exception is matcha. Our Ajirogi matcha is the highest grade matcha you can purchase online and among the best matcha in all of Japan. It is also expensive, costing about $40 an ounce.

We have added a second matcha that is much less expensive. We did this because we wanted to sell a quality matcha for those that cannot afford $40 an ounce. Our Uji Midori matcha is not as high grade, but it is very good (and less than half the price).
